Being human!!

Walking down to the metro station on this chilly winter morning. It was already quarter to nine and I was running 30 mins late to my work. It was a usual day. People were rushing to their offices. Auto and cycle rickshaw were making the road congested and also the roadside food stalls were making the place over crowded. I was brisk walking the path and soon as I reached those road side food stalls I saw a boy not more than 5 years old was begging for food to the people who were conveniently ignoring him and were having their breakfast. It was so cold and the boy was in the torn clothes, without slippers and hungry. I felt pity on the boy and more pity on the people who had the courage to act like blind and deaf in front of a little hungry boy who was not demanding money but just a plate of poori-aloo. I asked the Thela wala to give two plates to the poor boy and to my surprise the cost of one plate was only INR 10. I have no rights to judge anyone here neither I want to do it but the people who were convieniently  ignoring the little hungry boy doesn't looks like they couldn't afford 10 INR. I pitied not the boy but the people who were so called humans by birth but definitely not by their actions. I didnt feel good or great on feeding that plate to the young boy rather I felt bad on thinking that he must have gone to bed empty stomach. I really wish if we can save humanity and do little on our part so that no child have to go bare foot in the harsh winters, everyone can have food at the end of the day. Being human isn't that costly affair or is it?

Mediocre or Excellence- Choose wisely.

Finally the last exam of Sa-1. My girl will be able to do what she wants for a week. Yes, unfortunately, only for a week can she remain a girl who just like to lie in bed and read or remain lost in her world of oil pastels, drawing sheets giving life to her imaginations.  After that, same race will start again from the beginning. She will need to get prepared for the next term rectifying all the mistakes ,if any, she has made during her first term exams. From the lessons not prepared well to the subjects she has scored less than what is expected out of her. She will have to give her best shot this time and her tender shoulders will have to carry the weight of fulfilling the expectations of scoring high if not highest.  We all can relate to this as years ago we all may have undergone the same pressure. Many of us may have chosen the stream which was of least interest to us crushing our dreams due to some or the other reasons. Many of us may be regretful of not been able to overcome that fear of failure and gave honest try to what we wanted. And the irony is we still want our children to go through the same pain. We have not yet learn from our past.  We come across many articles/post/ messages on how we should not put pressure on our children and how we should appreciate and encourage them to pursue their dreams. We all seem to agree to it and share those post among our friends and post them on our FB walls but we don't learn anything. When it comes to our child(ren) we want them to run this rat race. By doing this we make them mediocre because we don't let them follow their dreams and pursue their excellence. Intelligence wins over creativity and millions of dreams are nipped in the bud.  Have you ever thought why we love to do this?    Because I think we all measure the success and quality of life in terms of money. Our mindset are limited as we think happiness lies only in big fat bank account. We ourselves lives a machine kind of life and wants our children to do the same.

30 Days Challenge

30 day challenge   Let's see how many of you can take this 30 day challenge and if you are successful at this I am sure you will see a different you after 30 days.   1. Stop using Facebook. For many people this one will be really difficult. If you think you can't do it; try spending restricted time on it. Let's say only 3-4 hours in a week. If you can do this you will find yourself little less tired and you will be able to find more time in your hand. One more benefit is you will be less depress 😬  2. Stop comparing. We all do this at some point of time in some or the other way. Feed your brain with positive thoughts about yourself rather than comparing yourself with others. You might not know what others have paid for their success. How many sleepless nights and how many struggles are behind that success. Or how sad a person is behind that smile which he or she might have faked for social media. 3. Stop blaming. This you should do as soon as you can. We all seek pleasure in blaming others for our bad days and misfortune or bad mood. Start telling yourself this: " I am responsible for everything that happens to me."  If you have too many disagreements with people than evaluate yourself first. Stop blaming someone and something at all cost. 4. Spend time with yourself: we are never taught this important lesson. This is the reason why most of us doesn't like our own company. If we have no one to talk to we are easily bored. If you can do this for 30 days then for the rest of your life you will have yourself as your best friend forever. 5. Exercise: Okay! Some of you must already be doing this. But for rest of you who don't have a proper exercise regime, challenge yourself to get into an active exercise schedule. Apart from physical benefit, it do have some physiological benefits too. It helps to Keep depression under control. 6. Read and write: for next thirty days not only read but try to pen down whatever your thoughts are. You can pour down your emotions on a piece of paper and can feel better.   7. Praise yourself: last but not the least , praise yourself on every little achievement when you undergo this 30 day challenge which will transform yourself to a better version of you.

Wednesday positivity.

Your day starts in a way you want it to be. Your day ends in a way you wanted it to end. It's no one else but you who is the maker of your destiny and the ruler of your life.
Stop blaming others for having the bad day. It was you who let the power of your life slips from your hand and let it be in the hands of someone unworthy. The people and incidents can affect you only if you let them affect you.
Don't give that power to rule you to someone who doesn't deserve it. People are judgemental so let them judge you and form an opinion about you. How their opinion can change what you really are?
If your yesterday was bad, make it good today. If it was good make it far better today. Start your day with a goal, no matter how small that goal is. You are doing it for yourself and  not for others. It can be anything, as small as, cleaning a kitchen shelves or ironing or going to a local grocery shop. If you have free time spend it on laughing with your loved ones rather than crying what other want you to do and how you are unable to do that.

End of one more dream.

While Scrolling down my FB page, a TOI's news caught my attention. It reads 17 year old farmer's son killed self, Kota. He failed his medical entrance examination.
Kota is famous for giving most IITians, Medicals and other engineering students. But now it is also getting infamous as hub for more and more suicides. I was disturbed to learn the number of suicides which took place last year was 18. This year this is 6th case and the results just got declared.
We read such news, feel bad about it offer our sympathies to the deceased family and then get back to our normal life. If we can learn something from these incidents, we can put end to it. We might be able to prevent young dreams from fading.
We as a parent have to understand and learn to respect the freedom of choice our children wants to make. Learn to accept the fact that our child is human being first then he is our child. When we have chosen to give birth to him we have to give him the power to live as he wants to live. We have to befriend them rather than be the dictator of their lives. Hear them, offer them advice and make them understand the impact of their decision. Let them learn because anyway we will not be there always to hold their hands.
These young minds don't need dictators they need a platform where they can be vocal too. Develop that platform where opinions are shared rather than decision imposed.
Every child is unique and have different abilities. Not everyone is born to become a doctor, engineers and/or pilots. Some can be teachers, mountaineers, painters and many more things. Let them choose what they want to be. Be a parent whom they can trust. Let them carve niche for themselves rather than ending their lives in despair. End of their life will bring only remorse and no amount of guilt will ever bring them back
